Abstract
The paper considers the development of continuing vocational education. Particular attention is paid to the prospects for its development in the higher educational institutions of Russia. The key methods of the study are descriptions, observations and generalisations which are used to analyze the problem. They allow to verify the results of the study. The dynamics of change in the number of organizations providing services in continuing vocational training, the number of students and population figures in Russia were studied. The levels of education obtained in the country, the impotance of continuing vocational education and key factors influencing its development were defined. The authors proved the need of using e-learning platforms for continuing vocational education.
